Mr. Beat and the former Catherine Bauman were married Sept. 5, 1959, at St. Michael's Church in Marywood.

They have four daughters, Deb Templin, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Karen Booth, of Bellevue; Ruth Hoffman, of Fremont; and Peggy Ruma of Bay Village. They also have six grandchildren.

Herman and Catherine have lived and farmed in Marywood since 1959. Herman retired from Whirlpool after 46 years of service. Catherine continues to be a dedicated wife. The couple love to play cards and remain active in their community.

Herman and Catherine celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a mass to renew their marriage vows followed by a private family celebration.
