Snyder rallied for a 3-6. 6-3, 7-5 win over Melanie Barna at second singles. Bellevue's Emily Miller defeating SMCC's Arenelle DeRiso 6-3 and 6-1. Lady Red senior captain Callie Kruse was defeated by SMCC's Morgan Linden by the score of 6-2 and 6-4. Lady Red senior co-captains Jenifer Pugh and Nikki Slosser won their doubles match over SMCC's Erica Christiansen and Molly Doyle, 6-1 and 6-1. Bellevue's Ophelia Whitmore and Salli Feick defeated the Panthers' Meghan Murray and Maria Dorski, 6-3 and 6-0. Junior varsity winner for the Lady Red was Cassidy Pugh. The win makes the Lady Red tennis team 1-1 for the season. The Bellevue Redmen football team continues to prepare for their season opener against Perkins on Aug. 22 at BAF Stadium. The Redmen will host a preview at BAF Friday, Aug. 15. (Gazette photo by Andrew Smith) Bellevue Redmen got their first taste of the upcoming football season on Friday, Aug. 8, when they participated in a scrimmage held in Oak Harbor. Under the watchful eyes of the coaching staffs from both schools, players worked on a variety of skills and plays, including this one, at left, in which the Oak Harbor defender tries to make a diving tackle against the BSHS ball carrier, and at right, as the quarterback gets ready to fire the ball to a receiver. The three high school teams will hold their annual preview this Friday, Aug. 15, beginning with the freshmen at 6 p.m. and followed in approximately one hour increments by the JV and varsity squads.
