Playhouse marks 60 years

HURON -- This July, the BGSU Huron Playhouse celebrates its 60th anniversary season with special events for returning alumni. The Playhouse has remained at the same site, Huron's McCormick School (325 Ohio Street), since its founding in 1949.

Ohio's oldest continuing summer theatre is proud of its over 1,500 alumni. Many of them have gone on to careers as performers, technicians, managers on and off Broadway, in regional theatre, touring companies, feature films, television, theme/amusement parks, and commercials. Others have completed the educational cycle by becoming distinguished teachers of theatre or film.

Special events will be observed on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, with alumni gatherings at the Huron Yacht Club and a luncheon at BGSU Firelands, a Saturday afternoon of performers entertaining each other in McBride Auditorium, and a special recognition on stage at the July 26 evening performance of Neil Simon's Rumors at the Playhouse.

For more information contact Dr. Frank Glann at the Huron Playhouse 419-433-4744 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. or e-mail fwglann@bgsu.edu.
