Terra Chorale auditions set
FREMONT -- The Terra Community College Arts Chorale will hold auditions for the upcoming season on Monday, Aug. 25.
The Arts Chorale, which rehearses Mondays from 6:30-9 p.m., is an auditioned 24-28 member chamber choir that maintains an active performance schedule throughout north central Ohio. One of four choral ensembles at Terra, it was established in 2004 and include membership of vocal majors, current and former music educators and community musicians.
Performing a variety of sacred and secular literature, the chorale presents exceptional performances including themed concerts, cantatas, traditional and contemporary a cappella works, operettas and several madrigal dinners.
The chorale has participated in studio works for several composer projects and next spring will present a unique program of new compositions by Ohio composers.
The Arts Chorale's 2008-2009 season includes concerts highlighting Baroque works by Bach and Handel; holiday concerts, "Lo How a Rose;" Morten Lauridsen's great work, "Lux Aeterna;" and many other performances and special programs.
For the auditions on Aug. 25, singers should come with a prepared song that best demonstrates their vocal abilities. The auditions will include other activities assessing singers understanding of choral music.
There are openings available in all voice parts.
The auditions will be from 5-6:30 p.m. in Building E, Room 110 (the choir room).
