The 2007 season for the Lady Red cross-country team was a rebuilding one as they finished seventh out of eight teams at the Northern Ohio League meet and eighth out 10 teams at the district meet.

Lady Red coach Earl Miller is entering his 20th season.

"This year we want to ease into training, improve each week and support each other," said Miller.

The Lady Red will be led by senior co-captains Kara Knight and Shawana Roth. Knight and Roth have qualified to Regionals the past three years.

Knight is a three year returning letter winner and was voted the team's hardest worker and most improved in 2007. Roth is also a three year letter winner and was the team MVP and voted hardest worker in 2007.

Other returning letter winners include junior Sarah Agee who was the 2007 Spirit award winner; junior Chelsea McPeek who was also named the 2007 Spirit award winner; and junior Kiah Salmons.

The Lady Red will welcome four new faces this season. They include juniors Abby Dorsey and Courtney Moyer; sophmore Mercedes Specht; and freshman Collen Valko.

The Lady Red start their season Aug. 30 at the Chris Green Invitational at 8:30 a.m.
