Small town charm. World class culture

Ten years ago, hardly anyone in Bellevue knew what the BSA was. Today, the Bellevue Society for the Arts has become emersed in the community. The society is unique among theaters in the area due to it's adjacent lobby and music studio.

The lobby of the BSA can be rented out for wedding receptions, anniversary parties, class reunions, graduation parties, or other events. The full kitchen also allows for great dinner theater shows.

The music studio offers lessons in piano, guitar, violin, and voice. There are larger rooms in the studio used for dance and graphic art lessons. The society hopes to expand the building for a greater variety of programs.

The society is run through donations, membership fees, rental fees, and ticket sales. They have received the Ohio Arts Council Grant for additional funding. The majority of their programs are run by volunteers from the community.

"We are always in need of volunteers," said marketing director Cathy Belfiore. Volunteers are needed to usher at shows, work the concession stand, or even just weed the flower beds. "Anything helps," she added.

The BSA is trying to expand its programs. This summer they are offering an Arts Camp. They have brought in area professionals to teach kids acting, auditioning skills, beginning comedy, and others.

The current Executive Council for the BSA includes Laurie Trapp as President, Kim Stultz as Vice president, Sharon Musser as secretary, and Betty Moyer as treasurer.

Upcoming events at the Bellevue Society for the Arts are:

July 17, 18, 19 - Teen Theater presents The Pajama Game

Aug. 24 - The 4 Jays in Concert- Back to School-Way Back
