Take a day
to enjoy the fair
Officially the 2009 Sandusky County Fair begins Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 8 a.m.
Despite the Recession, we hope the event continues to be well attended as it involves so many local residents. Many adults and youths still compete in the county open class and junior fair.
For a ticket, visitors can spend a day walking the fairground looking at free exhibits, farm animals and have a good meal at a reasonable price. No day is complete without stopping for a milk shake or Toft's ice cream cone at the Jr. Fair Ice Cream stand.
Instead of sitting at home watching Animal Planet or NatGeo, families can take a day and get the children out to see chickens, cows, hogs and goats up close. There are animal shows going on daily, and there is an assortment of free musical entertainment at the Log Cabin Stage throughout the week.
For Veterans and Senior Citizens of 62 and over, the big day of the week will be Thursday, which is also Whirlpool Day. There is an admission for veterans and seniors, but the special is $2 for those groups. Inside today's newspaper is a schedule of the events slated for the county fair. So we hope to see you at the fair.
