It's the law, not common sense

This has been a week of ups and downs. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that the City of Clyde cannot totally ban guns from local parks as the local government does not have that right.

Now as citizens in Ohio local residents must trust that sheriff's all over the state have been and will be responsible to whom they issue carry and conceal gun permits. While we expect standards to be enforced in our own county, there are no guarantees that elected sheriffs elsewhere in Ohio will be a diligent.

The Ohio Supreme Court was close on this decision and they got it wrong. In some cities it may make perfect sense to allow those with carry and conceal permits to have guns under their shirts while visiting a dangerous park.

It does not make sense here - thus, it would seem that is why "homerule" should apply.

The biggest fear in our parks is that a parent becomes upset with a Little League umpire's call and pulls out a ballbat - or now, a handgun.
