We should

be outraged

About four years ago, my grandson Kole Keller, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He had surgery on Dec. 2, 2005. The next week I contacted the Sandusky County Health Department nurse.

I talked to her about some of the other cancer cases in the area. We both agreed that it would be a good idea to possibly do a study on the cases and get the State Department of Health involved.

The Sandusky County and the State of Ohio Health Departments teamed up to do a detailed study of the cancer cluster cases which now number 20 in the last seven to eight years. The cancer victim families have been involved with numerous meetings with both departments. I think all agree that this is a rare event to have 20 cancer cases in such a small area.

Last spring the cancer victims' families met with the state and local health departments. We thought that the spatial analysis (which is small red pinheads on a map where the cancer victims lived and where they spent most of their time and also overlays for the map which will show dumpsites, industry sites, etc.) would eventually be shared with the victims' families. The State and local health departments said it would be July 2009 when this info would be finished.

July came and went, and we were told that they could not give out all of this information because of privacy laws. They said that a watered-down version would be presented to the cancer victims' families this fall.

Then we were told in September that they could not find a happy medium because of privacy laws. Four years later (and many more cancer cases), and still no more information. The cancer victims' families who had to endure so many trials and tribulations, heartaches, and even death are told that the health department cannot give us the information which they had promised to share with us.

We have been through enough. It has been about four years since we started this study. It is wrong to withhold information from these families and the public.

This cancer cluster is a very rare event, and everything possible to help future generations from going through this horrific disease should be pursued and presented to the public. Maybe these organizations and people associated with them do not want the truth exposed. Please contact your local or state elected officials about the truth being revealed.

Vote yes on

Issue 2

To the editor:

As president/CEO of a grain marketing and farm supply cooperative in Ohio, I want to make sure people understand the importance of passing State Issue 2. Agriculture is Ohio's number one industry and could be in jeopardy if we, Ohio citizens, allow out-of-state interest groups to come into Ohio and tell us how to raise livestock and ultimately how and if we can continues to produce the safe, affordable food that both your family and mine enjoy every day.

Ohio grain farmers rely on livestock farmers to be their number-one customer. Both grain and livestock farmers would be negatively impacted if we allow special interest groups to dictate how Ohio farmers raise their animals. Our farmer customers are among some of the most conscientious, responsible animal caregivers that I know of.

issue 2 is the right approach to set a statewide, comprehensive framework that sets animal care policy for our livestock - that's regulation farmers can support. It will assure Ohio families have a safe, reasonably priced, locally grown food supply and will ensure excellent animal care.

Creating an Ohio Livestock Standards Board through the passage of Issue 2 just makes sense. It's meaningful, it's reasonalbe and it will consider everything that impacts farming and food production.

Fellow Ohio citizens: We must take a stand against these activist grous and let them know that Ohio expers are the ones we want making decisions on how our food is produced and who is producing it - not out-of-state activists. We won't be another California. Please join me in this stance by voting Yes on State Issue 2 on Nov. 3.

Re-elect

Slotto

I'm writing to endorse Gene Slotto for Green Creek Township Trustee. He's hard-working and has a good relationship with the other trustees as well as the citizens of the township. He attends many important meetings concerning township problems and reports back to the other trustees and fiscal officer. Gene is always on time and attends every meeting with the interest of the township residents in mind.

While Gene Slotto, Joe Jennings and Vince Golembiowski have been in office, the following projects have been accomplished: An agreement with the City of Clyde for the township to receive property tax money if the land is annexed into the city, better zoning for the clean-up of junk and trash, which is controlled by an attorney, advance funding for projects unexpected repairs, continued maintenance of roads, drainage, and cemeteries and the continued excellent raport with other townships and county engineers to gain grant money to improve the township.

I feel Gene is well prepared to continue as Green Creek Township Trustee and I encourage the residents of Green Creek Township to re-elect Gene Slotto to continue the excellent job he's done. Vote for Gene.

Say Yes

to Renewal

To the editor:

As parents, we want to insure our children to have opportunities. We read with them, study, goto church, take them to lessons, practices, cheer at their games and brag about accomplishments. We want to make sure that they will grow with all the blessing that can we give them.

On Nov. 3, Election Day, we will have the responsibility to vote for the Clyde -Green Springs School renewal. Education is the greatest gift we can our sons and daughters.

Our Clyde schools offer excellent opportunities from elementary through the high school for our students to learn.

A strong school system builds a strong community for our children to grow up in. Businesses want to expand and stay here, and the Clyde Flier traditions continue. Property values will maintain. We want to stay a strong community for our children and ourselves. This is simply a renewal with no additional money, the same amount home owners and tax payers have been paying.

Our children depend on us to provide for them, and we need to do so again on Election Day by voting for the renewal for Clyde Green Springs Schools.

Keep schools

top notch

' To the editor:

As homeowners and parents of two children progressing through our terrific school system, we feel very strongly about maintaining an educational system that will continue to benefit our children as they grow.

In November, registered voters in the City of Clyde will again have the privileged opportunity to support our school system by renewing the operational levy. By voting 'yes' on this renewal levy we will be able to maintain the outstanding education the teachers and staff are providing our youth. This is not a new tax, but a renewal.

Clyde has an excellent school system which strives towards the development of our children's academic, as well as physical and artistic well being. We now enjoy a school system that is top-notch in academics, athletics, technology, clubs, and facilities.

Renewing this operational levy is the right decision to make. Voting to renew will show our continued commitment to provide our children with the world class education they will need to compete in a global society.

Let's show our children and our neighboring communities that the citizens of Clyde are willing to do what is necessary to ensure continued success for our kids and say "Yes" to our school system.
