George B. Howell
George B. Howell, 97 Sun City Center, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the Homewood Residence where he resided.
He was born in Cedarville, N.J., the son of James Burt Howell and Minnie Schafer Howell. He married Vivian M. Kelley Howell on June 2, 1934 and she preceded him in death on May 10, 2007.
He was a graduate of Bridgeton High School, Bridgeton, N. J. and Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. He was a retired teacher from the Green Springs and Clyde School Districts. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Clyde, and St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Sun City Center, Fla. He served in the Army in the European Theater during World War II. He was a 60 year member of the Masons, a member of Free Masons No. 427 of Green Springs, the High 12 Club, Scottish Rite Club, Shrine Club, OES No. 299 of Green Springs, Men's Club of Sun City Center, Organ Club and a member of the Community Association of Sun City Center.
Survivors include his granddaughter, Kelley (Charles) Weller of Pataskala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; his son, George B. Howell Jr. on May 11, 1997; two brothers, James Burt Howell and Paul S. Howell.
There will be no services held at this time. There will be a memorial service held at a later date at the Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
The Engle-Shook Funeral Home in Green Springs is in charge of arrangements.
