Although the Clyde County Fair is still a couple weeks away, people wanting to participate in various fair events need to sign up now.
Sub Eating Contest
Linda Black, pubic relations coordinator for the fair board, said Subway is already taking registrations at its McPherson Highway store for a Saturday, Sept. 20 sub-eating contest.
Four-person teams can sign up for the free contest, which will be held 6 p.m. Sept. 20 by the beer tent. This will be the fourth sub eating contest for the fair, although they are not held annually.
Kiddie Parade
It is also time for children ages five to those in second grade to plan their outfits and decorations for the Annual Kiddie Parade at noon, Saturday, Sept. 20. "The kiddie parade has a red, white and blue theme," Black said. The children's parade will be held before the pet and grand parade on Main Street. Children should meet at the corner of Forest and Main streets.
Tub Race
Teams of five also can now register for the annual Bathtub Race held on South Main Street. The event sponsored by Croghan Colonial Bank will have a "Survivor" theme this year. To register call Kathy Ball at 419-547-7276.
Pet Parade
A new event has been added to the Clyde Country Fair weekend, Sept. 19, 20 and 21.
A Pet Parade will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 just before the Grand Parade downtown and after the Kid's Parade.
Applications are available at Groomer's Corner, Paw Patch, Mary's Pampered Pets and York Animal Hospital.
