bronze medal
at SkillsUSA contest
KANSAS CITY, MO. - Joseph Corbin, Clyde, a Vanguard Career Center graduate, received a bronze medal at the annual National Leadership and Skills Conference and SkillsUSA Championships.
He placed in the Residential Wiring contest.
The competition was held at H. Roe Bartle Hall, Municipal Auditorium and American Royal in Kansas City, MO. from June 21 through June 27.
Formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled work force.
At this year's event there were 91 contest categories for which students were awarded honors. Contests ranted from Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources to Transportation Distribution and Logistics.
All winners received medallions and frequently receive tools of their trade and/or scholarships.More than 5,000 students from every state and three territories competed.
To qualify for the national competition, the students competed in local and state contests. The state gold medal winners advanced to the national SkillsUSA Championship.
