MMS volleyball splits games

On Sept. 16, the McPherson Middle School 8th grade volleyball team lost a hard-fought, three-game match to the Oak Harbor Lady Rockets, 18-25, 25-23, 16-25.

The top MMS servers were Melissa Setzler, 12 points, and Lauren Baker, 5. They were followed by Amber Wagner, Tori Rohrbach and Macy Gill, who each had 4, and Meriah Maines added 3.

"I was a little disappointed not to get the win, but if we keep working hard we will turn these losses into wins the next round of the SBC," commented coach Deb Newsom.

On Thursday, Sept. 18, Lady Fliers defeated the Edison Chargers 21-25, 25-15, 25-12. Top servers were Natasha Roth with 7 points, Tori Rohrbach 6, and Amber Wagner 5.

Adding to the score were Mackenzie Gittinger, Lauren Baker and Natalie Andrews, 4 each, plus Macy Gill, Meriah Maines, Melissa Setzler and Alivia Danhoff, added 3 each.
