Eighth grade boys defeat Edison, 42-16

The Clyde 8th grade football team had another outstanding game, this time beating the Edison Chargers 42-16 at Edison on Sept. 11, according to Coach Dan Weyer.

The story of the game was the play of the offensive and defensive lines for the Fliers, which dominated the Chargers all game.

Scoring touchdowns for the Fliers on runs were Kennedy Renfro and Blake Smith. Bennett Brown also added two long touchdowns runs in which he broke several tackles.

Paul Cullen threw a touchdown to Kedran Bilbrey, who made a great grab over the defender to get the score. Brad Smith scored on a long electrifying punt return to finish the scoring for the Fliers, according to the coach.

Scoring on 2-point conversions for the Fliers were Thomas Glick, Ron Drown, and Brad Smith.

The coaches noticed that Danny Ward and Justin Trick did an outstanding job on the defensive line stuffing the Chargers on numerous occasions throughout the night, Weyer noted. The coaches were pleased with the great team effort.
