The Fliers boys soccer team has had some tough matches lately, but it's clear that they are getting better each week.
On Sept. 23, they lost to Port Clinton 10-1 on the road. On Sept. 25 they lost to Huron 6-0 at home.
The Fliers then defeated Margaretta 5-2 on the road Sept. 30 and they then defeated Seneca East 5-3 at home on Oct. 4.
The two wins raised the Fliers record to 4-8-2 for the season.
In the Seneca East match, Ethan Binger set a number of Fliers' records. His four goals were a new single-game record. His 13 goals on the season broke the season scoring record and his 18-career goals broke the career record. With seven assists for the season, Trenton Hermes ties the single season assist record to go with his single game tied assist record.

On Sept. 23, Port Clinton led the Fliers 3-0 before Ethan Binger made it 3-1 with his sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick with 16:26 remaining in the first half. The Redskins would make it 4-1 at the half before pulling away from the Fliers with six second half goals.
Dustin Gregory and Jacob Norman each had two clears and a blocked shot. Justin Fritz and Trenton Hermes each had two clears and Andrew Collins had a steal and a clear. Kyle Davis had two clears and a steal in limited duty. Luke Salyer had 14 saves at the goal.
Against Huron, the Fliers shut them out in the second half, although the Tigers scored six goals in the first half.
The score remained 6-0 in the second half as the Fliers couldn't penetrate the tough Huron defense.
Justin Fritz had six clears, a blocked shot, a steal and an interception. Andrew Collins had five steals and a clear. Lucus Eubanks had a blocked shot and two clears. Jacob Norman had two interceptions and two steals while Kyle Davis had a clear and two interceptions. Luke Salyer had six saves.
Ethan Binger provided the Fliers with the offensive spark that they need to take down Margaretta with a "hat trick".
Trenton Hermes assisted on all three of Binger's goals. Both the three goals and the three assists tied school records. Dustin Leasock also earned an assist on one of Binger's goals and so did Kyle Davis.
Andrew Collins got in on the scoring with his second goal of the season on an unassisted play. Leasock scored his second goal of the season on assists by Binger and Jacob Norman.
Justin Fritz had two blocked shots and two clears. Davis had four clears. Norman had two steals and two interceptions. Ethan Riehl stopped eight of 10 Margaretta shots. Margaretta first goal came on a penalty kick.
Against Seneca East, Ethan Binger gave the Fliers a 1-0 lead less than four minutes into the match with an assist from Trenton Hermes.
With the score tied at 1-1, Binger gave the Fliers the lead back half way through the first half with an unassisted goal. Seneca East however scored two more first half goals to lead 3-2 at the intermission.
Hermes retied the score at 3-3 with 29:55 left in the game with assists from Binger and Andrew Collins. Binger then broke the tie with a goal at about the 20 minute mark on an assist from Dustin Leasock.
Binger then scored his fourth goal of the game with 7:03 remaining in the match to give the Fliers a 5-3 lead. The last goal started with a free kick by Hermes to Garrett Binger who attempted a shot on goal but was off the mark and Ethan Binger then put it into the back of the net.
