The Fliers cross country teams traveled to the Fostoria Booster's Invitational Oct. 4 at Fostoria High School.
The Fliers boys team finished in third place with 135 points while Elmwood was first at 53 and Bay was second at 73. Bowling Green was fourth with 136 points and Tiffin Columbian was fifth with 157 points.
You can catch the Fliers cross country teams on Oct. 11 at Huron for the Sandusky Bay Conference meet.
Craig Gerber led the Fliers with a fourth place finish and a time of 17:02. Isaac Bouyack was 19th (17:58), Gary Powell, 25th (18:01); Damian Dixon, 38th (18:18); Tony Constantin,i 59th (18:53); Eric Pumphrey, 84th (19:31): and Zach Prentice was 97th (19:52).
The Lady Fliers finished 12th at Fostoria with 275 points. Tiffin Columbian won the race with 62 points. Bay was second at 120. Elmwood was third at 133. Brittany Stockmaster was first overall with a 19:00
Ashley Alejandro was the top Lady Fliers runner and finished sixth (20.47). Taylor Ebert was 11th (21:02); Tesla Lozier, 94th (24:45); Brittany Cantrell, 143rd (28:31); Brianna Constantini, 146th (29:05); Kerry Pumphrey, 147th (29:57); and Jennifer Demoss was 155th (32:14).
"Ashley ran a real good race for us and Taylor did pretty well also," Coach Ken Cheek said.
"Right now both of these girls are the bright spots of the team. We still have too big of a gap between our second and third runners to do well as a team and our times are still pretty low except for the first two runners," he added.
"We still struggling right now but we're going to keep running and trying to get better through the end of the season and try to get our times down a little bit better."
The Lady Fliers lost a tri-meet to Huron and Sandusky St. Mary's on Sept. 30. Huron won with 37 points, St. Mary's had 39 and the Lady Fliers had 46.
Taylor Ebert was 2nd (20:42); Ashley Alejandro, 3rd (21:03); Tesla Lozier, 10th (23:51); Brianna Constantini,15th (27:47); Brittany Cantrell, 16th (28:24); and Jennifer Demoss was 21st (34:33).
