Barbershop quartet & guitar playing singers entertain at pier pavilion

On Friday, June 19, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M., River Front Live! is introducing an accomplished female Barbershop Quartet to the family of volunteer performers, lightheartedly named Lady Luck. Cassie Majchrzak, Tenor, lives in Cleveland. She currently sings with both Lake Ridge and Greater Cleveland Choruses. Lynn Kearney, Lead, lives in Whitehouse, Ohio and is a member of the Spirit of Detroit chorus. Jill Spriestersbach, Baritone, is from Grafton, Ohio and is currently Director of the Lake Ridge Chorus. Polly Snider, Bass, from Taylor, Michigan, sings with Spirit of Detroit and is a former Sweet Adeline director.

On Saturday, June 20, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M., Jerry "Moon Dog" Vess a very talented singer and guitar player from Port Clinton, will perform classics and original music with fellow volunteer musicians Brad Kepler and Stick Slabicki.

Brad Kepler also known as the Electric Balladeer, is from Fremont, Ohio. You've heard of the Rhinestone Cowboy? Well, introducing our local version, Brad Kepler the Electric Balladeer! "Using guitar and banjo, this oversized folk singer brings back a quiet night of songs on the front porch or around the campfire. With songs, cowboy poetry and home spun humor." Says Brad.

Stick is short for Stan Slabicki. "No one could pronounce my last name, so they started calling me Sticky till I was about 12 years old. Then it got shortened down to Stick ever since." Says Stick of his name. Originally from New York he resided in Los Angeles, California where he met and fell in love with a girl from Port Clinton and in 1991 came to visit and fell in love with Port Clinton too. He plays all original music that has been said to sound like John Sebastian, Jim Croce and "Beatle-ish." Jerry, Brad and Stick are very familiar performers to the program and are always ready to entertain the very appreciative audiences of Port Clinton.

River Front Live! Outdoor Summer Music Program is an all volunteer musical program sponsored by the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Neidecker-LeVeck and Crosser Funeral Home, showcasing a variety of local talent.

The program was created to bring attention to the downtown historic river front district gateway at the new North Jefferson Street Pier Pavilion.

Join our year round residents, our summertime residents and visitors at the river front location, weather permitting. Pick up a snack-to-go from the closely located restaurants and bring your own chairs to enjoy the view and the family friendly music.

If interested in volunteering as a performer [easy-listening only] or as a River Front Live! Representative, who is present during performances, names are being taken for next year's schedule by calling 419.734.2397. Co-organizers are Mary Gordon and Kathy Jo Schweitzer.
