Second Annual Appetite for the Arts Coming August 8th from the Port Clinton Arts Council

It's time again for a taste of the local arts at the Port Clinton Arts Council's second annual Appetite for the Arts event Friday, August 8, 2008, from 7 to 9 pm. With support from the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Port Clinton and the Jet Express, this year's showcase of visual art, music, theatre and dance is coming to a brand new venue--the Jet Express Warehouse, where an urban gallery feel meets hometown charm and local artistic talent.

The Port Clinton area arts community is gathering to create an evening of local cuisine and wine samples, art displays and special presentations. There is no cost to attend the event, but an invitation and RSVP are required. The spacious Jet Express warehouse will allow this event to reach as many people as possible. Event co-chairs Angie Kajfasz and Amy Heflinger hope that more than 300 people will stroll in and out, enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Port Clinton's arts. Donations to continue the work of the Port Clinton Arts Council will be greatly appreciated. Limited Edition keepsake Port Clinton Arts Council wine glasses will be sold for $5 each, and can even be used for the wine tastings that evening. To request your invitation and RSVP, please go online to www.portclintonarts.org or call Angie Kajfasz at 419-734-5928.

The Port Clinton Arts Council was recently awarded a $1000 grant from the Stensen Foundation to continue the Appetite for the Arts event for its second year. More than 200 people attended the 2007 Appetite for the Arts event that helped kick-start the Port Clinton Arts Council. The council is comprised of artists, area residents and art lovers who joined forces to support local artisans, promote special programs and activities, prepare grants, advocate public funding of the arts, work with other local agencies and serve as a forum for public opinion concerning local arts needs. The Port Clinton Arts Council also recently sponsored the second year of their Home Sweet Home children's art auction and Garden Art Tour & Tea.

Anyone wishing to donate to the Port Clinton Arts Council may send their donation to the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation at 110 Madison Street, Port Clinton, OH 43452. Donations may be tax deductible. Visit www.portclintonarts.org for more information about the Port Clinton Arts Council and its programs.
