Log Cabin
Sunday, August 17 at the Oak Harbor Log Cabin, 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM, The Legacy Band with special guest, Norm Witt, will be performing. All of these musicians have countless years of experience playing and singing in and around Ottawa County. See you Sunday at the Log Cabin.
Legion breakfast
The Genoa American Legion Post #324 will be serving an "All-You-Can-Eat" pancake and sausage, eggs, and sausage gravy & biscuit breakfast on Sunday, August 24, 2008. BCS Board meeting
The Benton-Carroll-Salem Board of Education will meet on August 15, 2008, from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Carroll Township Complex, 11080 W Toussaint East Rd., Oak Harbor. This will be a Board/administrative work session.
NARFE
The National Active & Retired Federal Employee Association, Vacationland Chapter #1030 will hold their regular luncheon monthly meeting at noon on Monday, August 18, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church Social Hall, Jefferson St., Port Clinton. The program will be presented by Robert Shiels, weatherman from WTOL Channel 11.

Genealogical Society
The August meeting of the Ottawa County Genealogical Society will be a picnic in the shelter house of Lakeview Park in Port Clinton, across from the city beach. Meat will be provided; members and friends are asked to bring a dish to share and their own drink. The speaker at the picnic will be Susie Cooper whose topic will be: "The Genealogical Project of the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society: 30 Years and Counting." Ms. Cooper is the director of the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society and an experienced genealogist. Everyone is welcome at the meeting on Tuesday, August 19th at 6:00.
Public hearing
Oak Harbor Village Council will hold a public hearing on August 25, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. in Oak Harbor Village Council Chambers at 146 Church Street. Comments will be heard regarding the proposed re-zoning of property (Block 2, Lot 1 Original & Vacated Ally; Block 2, Lots 2,3,4 Original) located between Jefferson and Townline Streets, west of Church Street. Property is currently zoned R-3 (Residential). Applicant is requesting to re-zone this property to HI (Heavy Industry) to allow a commercial building to be built.
Looking for photos
The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce and Apple Festival Royalty chairman, Sara Soltis is trying to locate pictures of the past Apple Festival Royalty. These pictures used to be displayed in area business windows during the Apple Festival. The Festival is celebrating it's 30th year anniversary and would like to display past and current Royalty pictures. If anyone would happen to know where we can locate these pictures, please give the Chamber office a call at 419-898-0479.
