In the pink for 10th Annual Golf Tournament for Komen Foundation

The 10th Annual Rally For A Cure Golf Tournament was held Wednesday July 16th at Oak Harbor Golf Club.

One hundred twenty-four ladies participated in the outing raising funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pink flowers donated by Wistinghausen Florist decorated the tables for the luncheon setting the theme of "pink" which included pink balloons, napkins and many pink outfits worn by the ladies and also the gentlemen that volunteered their time.

Each breast cancer survivor was given a pink flower at the opening ceremony presented by the team of Bette Wistinghausen and daughters. Pink balloons decorated the hole sponsor signs and the golf carts.

The format for the event was a four-person scramble. Receiving first place honors was the team of Carolyn Kauble, Vicki Kritzel, Gayle Johnson and Marge Effinger. Mary Low Held captained the second place team with Lori Hoff, Lisa Foos and Dessie Morehart joining her.

Coming in with a last place finish was the team captained by Ginny Finken and they won a team lesson with Matt Jennings, Pro at the Oak Harbor Club who was decked out in a pink shirt for the day.

Other winners were: Dessie Morehart, closest to the pin on #9. Linda Schenk, closest to the pin on #12. Skill prizes donated by the Oak Harbor Golf Club went to Marie Truman, longest putt on hole #3, Diane Gerkensmeyer, longest putt on hole #8, Pam Vreeland. longest putt on hole #18 and Mary Low Held, closest to the pin on #7.

Raffle winners with prizes donated went to the following: Fern from Otto & Urban Shop to Carol Ronski, Packer Creek Gift Card

and Mugg'zs Tea Nook basket to Beth Witt. Hearts and Star donated a "Flower Pot Girl" that Phyllis Howell took home. Betty Voisard won a National Bank Cooler with a set of Tervis tumblers donated by Judy Franck. Brenda Rohman won a garden tool basket donated by Huntington Bank Woodville. The Cookie Basket with a dozen homemade cookies went to Pam Vreeland.

All of the lady golfers were entered into the drawings for the following prizes: a 9 wood donated by Red Williams was won by Judy Verb, an AAA membership for one year donated by Port Clinton AAA was won by Sandra Schaffner, a set of pink ribbon Tervis Tumblers donated by

Judy Franck was won by Rose Markle and the complete set of golf clubs and bag was won by

Barb Schrader. Nichole Woggon, Marie Wittman and Bette Wistinghausen were winners in the 50-25-25 drawings.

Chris Demko of the Northwest Ohio Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was present and told the group of the importance of self-breast exams and also how the funds from this event will help their Affiliate in Northwest Ohio.
