Floro's Farm Market now open

By Rachel Smith

Staff Reporter

What makes a summer, a great summer?

It's the barbecues, picnics and family gatherings. Floro's Farm Market wants to help you with making this summer a good one. Stop by to pick up fresh tomatoes, sweet corn, potatoes, cucumbers, melons, and much more. Everything you need for the summer meal your friends and family will rave about.

Dave and Val Floro purchased the former Homeville Fruit Farm. "It has been a lifelong goal of Dave's to open a produce stand," said Val. Dave, known to some in the area as Tic-Tic, has lived in Oak Harbor his entire life. He is a self-employed farmer who has been in the produce industry for over 12 years and his wife Val is a full-time registered nurse in obstetrics at Memorial Hospital in Fremont.

Returning customers might recognize some familiar faces as the Floro's have hired back the employees from Homeville Fruit Farm. You might even run into Phyllis Schumaker while visiting.

Residents should also know that the end of summer doesn't stop the Floro's Farm Market from serving its customers. In the fall, the market will sell cornstalks, pumpkins, hay bails, apples, cider, gourds and Indian corn.

The stand offers produce, candy, bottled water, pop, Amish goods, firewood, and a HOT item to look for is Branco's peppers, one of Val's favorites.

The market's hours are 10am-6pm seven days a week. The market accepts senior voucher coupons, issued by the Department of Agriculture. The market is located at 6515 W. Harbor Road, Port Clinton, (corner of Route 163 and Rymers Road.)

Stop by and see what can turn your summer, into a great summer.
