5 to attend 72nd annual Buckeye Boy's State in Bowling Green

A record number of five young men will represent the Genoa area at the 72nd annual Buckeye Boy's State starting June 14th. These young men, Cody Harder, Bryce Humbarger, Rob Orians, Daniel Robaszkiewicz, and Alan Scheanwald, will attend the weeklong workshop at Bowling Green State University in June.

Sponsored by local businesses and organizations such as The Genoa Banking Company, The Genoa Kiwanis Club, First Federal Bank of of the Midwest, Imagine That! Marketing and The Genoa American Legion, all expenses are paid and all young men are eligible to attend.

Chosen from a list of applicants these young men must have completed their Junior year of high school, possess qualities of leadership, scholastic achievement, good citizenship, a willingness to participate and be recommended by both their high school principal and the American Legion.

These young men learn about city, county, and state government through a non-partisan objective education approach. By campaigning and running for various government offices they learn the workings of our and how our State operates from the village hall to the State Capitol.

The young men also form friendships and contacts which will last a lifetime!
