Young soccer team looks to improve

By Rachel Smith

Staff Reporter

The boys soccer team lost eight of its players to graduation.

But that isn't stopping them from having high hopes for the 2008 season. The team is returning their top scorer from last season, Phil Weirich. Weirich will be a sophomore this season that scored 22 goals last season.

Coach Rob Schimmoeller is optimistic about the season. "We always hope to move up from the previous season," said Schimmoeller.

"It helps that we are returning our leading scorer." Schimmoeller has coached rockets soccer for the past four years.

Last year the team finished 4th in the league with a record of 7-4-1.

Captains this season are Dan Macko (senior), Ethan Easterwood (senior), and Phil Weirich (sophomore).

They will have to lead this young team forward to achieve a winning season.
