Hoff's celebrate 50 years
Donald and Joanne Hoff of Delta are celebrating 50 years of marriage. Joanne Fought and Donald Hoff were united in holy matrimony on Sept. 19, 1959 at the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Toledo.
Don graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1953 and served in the U. S. Army from 1961-63, achieving a rank of SP-4.
Through the years, he supported his family primarily as a semi-tractor trailer driver, which allowed Don to see much of the eastern United States from Michigan to Louisiana. He retired in 2008 after 40 years on the road.
Joanne graduated from Springfield High School in 1959. she helped support her husband and family by working various jobs through the years beginning as a nurse's aid at the state hospital, all the while being the homemaker. Joanne did retire from the Lear Company in Wauseon in 2004.
The couple made their home in Liberty Center for 32 years and were co-owners of a small business for part of that time. They did find time to raise two wonderful daughters: Mechele and Chris Maier of Swanton and Katherine and James Hernandez of Napoleon. Don and Joanne have also been blessed with two grandchildren: Abbey and Alec.
The couple look forward to many more years together and hope to some traveling. There was a gathering of friends and family on Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Mary Jane Thurston Day Lodge near Grand Rapids, Ohio to commemorate the special occasion. It was the perfect setting as the Hoff family have spent many recreational hours at the river throughout the years.
