Local 4-H winners at the Ohio State Fair

The Ohio State University Extension Office of Fulton County is pleased to announce the Fulton County 4-H members who were awarded top honors at the 2008 Ohio State Fair for their 4-H projects. These 4-H members did a great job representing Fulton County at the State Fair! Congratulations to all.

Megan Born, daughter of Larry and Pam of Delta and a member of the Blue Ribbon Raisers 4-H Club was honored at the Ohio State Fair by the Ohio 4-H Organization. Born was recognized for her outstanding competency during the Home Decorating Day, and was presented with a clock trophy.

Born won first prize with her 4-H project "First Home Away from Home." Participants are recognized as "Outstanding of the Day" if they place in the top twenty percent of their class competing with youth from all 88 counties in Ohio and one clock trophy is given overall to the youth who places first in their division.

Logan Foster - You and Your Dog Project

Jessica Meller - Focus on Photography, Level 2 Project

Todd Miller - Fishing for the Intermediate Project

Ella Weaver - Self-Determined Project, Natural Resources "Exploring Oak Openings" Superior Rating.

Dogs

Samantha Bennett: Eighth place in You & Your Dog Skillathon

Marissa Blohm: Tweleveth place - 16 year old Skillathon

Goats

Reba Rash: First place 12-15 year old Showmanship and First place 14 year old Skillathon, two Grand Champions

Trish Rash: Grand Champion and Reserve Champion

Esther Heilman: First place in Showmanship, Second place Skillathon, Fourth and Fifth place Jr. Dairy Goats

Ellie Heilman: Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Goat

Rabbits

Taylor Kruse: First place in 13 and 14 year old Breed ID, Overall Breed ID Winner, First place 14 year old Skillathon, Overall Skillathon Winner, First place 13 and 14 year old Showmanship, First place Rabbit Poster, Rabbit Showman of Showmen

Kailey Kruse: Second place 11 and 12 year old Breed ID, First place 12 year old Skillathon, Third place Rabbit Poster

Krista Thierry: Fourth in 11 year old Skillathon, Second place Rabbit Poster, rabbits won four Firsts, three Seconds, and four Thirds. Thierry also won Best of Variety Netherland Dwarfs, Best of Opposite Sex Variety Netherland Dwarf and one Best of Breed.

Hogs

Mark Banister: First place Landrace boar, Reserve Jr. Champion, Second place January Landrace gilt, Second place February Landrace gilt

Tony Banister: Third and Sixth place Yorkshire boar, Fourth place Yorkshire gilt.

Samantha Norman: Reserve Grand Champion Berkshire Barrow, 11-Year old Outstanding Market Exhibitor Swine, Fourth in 11-year old Showmanship.

Steers

Samantha Norman: Third Place Hereford Steer, 11-year old Outstanding Market Beef Exhibitor, Fourth place in 11-year old Showmanship, Outstanding 11-year old Beef Record Book, winner of 11-year old Beef Skillathon.
