'Drive-through' flu shot clinic to be offered by Fulton Co. Health Dept.
The Fulton County Health Department will once again be offering flu vaccine to the public, starting in October. For the past two years, we have held exercises with our first response partners in the county as preparation for a possible flu pandemic simulation drill.
A component of each exercise was the option of receiving a flu shot in the comfort of your vehicle. This type of "drive-through" flu clinic will be offered here at the Fulton County Health Department Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. It is provided as a courtesy to our county residents.
We need to practice this method of vaccine delivery, so your participation is needed. Everyone 65 years of age and above is strongly encouraged to participate in the "drive through". Also, people under the age of 65 who have difficulty walking or standing in line. Children who require a wheelchair for mobility are welcome to participate. Other children, especially infants and toddlers are asked to be immunized in a regular clinic setting so they can be secured and safely vaccinated.
The second major clinic of the year will be held at the Health Department on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is a walk-in clinic and will be open to all adults. Other clinics will be held throughout the county in several community locations as well as at the Health Department. Dates and locations will be released soon.
There is no shortage of flu vaccine this year. We encourage you to take part in this first flu shot clinic to further train our response teams. Call the Fulton County Health Department at (419) 337-0915 for further information.
