Don't make judgments without all the facts
It is detrimental to make judgments before knowing the facts. Just because you don't understand why something was done, doesn't mean there wasn't good reasoning behind it. It's important to know that the Swanton School Board is bound by legal parameters and that is why they haven't been able to add ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Honor flight, W.W.II Memorial were memorable
Everyone was up early, me at 4:30 a.m. But, Chuck Sontelli, BGSU professor, was up at 4 a.m. and at my house two hours later to get me to the terminal at Toledo Express Airport. The Toledo Honor Guard volunteers did not want any veteran to have to drive. Thus I was picked up.
At the terminal ther ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Swanton can achieve extraordinary tasks
On September 26, I witnessed an extraordinary thing when our community came together in a crisis to help with the bomb threat at Swanton Health Care. Eighty-one residents were evacuated.
I watched as fire, rescue, police and volunteers came to the rescue. It was evident they had a plan and it was ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Keep meeting, settle before a strike occurs
I want to commend Swanton teachers for their efforts in moving us to an "Effective" rating on the State School Report Card. I know that it is hard work to get the information into the students' heads and then back out onto to the test papers. Well done.
To the members of the school boar ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Everyone shares blame for economic mess
I hear political ads on TV referring to the 'Bush economy'. Wouldn't it be more apt to call it the 'congressional economy'? Only Congress has the authority to spend your money, not the President. Only Congress has the authority to pass laws that govern and regulate, not the President. Congress has ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Proud of Thursday's response by residents
Last Thursday someone decided to play a horrible "trick" on the residents of a local nursing home. I hope anyone who has information will call the police.
As I headed home late that night I started thinking about how, when I voted in the levy to build the new high school to help the children of t ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Swanton school board should be re-called
By their actions rejecting the approved contract agreement that would allow Swanton teachers to continue working to educate our children, The Swanton Board of Education have proven that they are more interested in power than the effective education of our students. Wants Wal-Mart to keep sewing dept. open
The Wauseon WalMart store is closing its sewing department. I know friends, family and residents who are very upset about this decision. Many of them don't want to drive far to get sewing accessories and supplies, this location is very convenient for them and the sewing department is very well kept ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

It's time for teacher contract resolution
As the parent of a fourth grader, I urge the school board to avoid a teacher's strike, which would be disastrous for our children and community.
When I voted for the income tax levy, it was with the hope this would put our district on a solid financial footing and allow it to compensate our teach ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY

Politicians shutting down entire industry
It's almost laughable to hear politicians and activists talk about Issue 5 and payday lending. They're in a competition to see who can sound more pious and self-righteous, and it's like hearing Britney Spears talk about the virtues of responsible parenting. I'd laugh if it weren't so insulting. Th ... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL STORY
