Don't change constitution to pass farm issue
I will vote "no" on Issue 2. If Issue 2 is in the best interest of farmers and animal welfare, then our state legislators should enact such a law. With a law, any oversight board would be subject to modification as needed. The instigators of Issue 2 have drafted this as a constitutional amendment with the intended purpose of making it difficult - next to impossible - to repeal or modify.
As a constitutional amendment, Issue 2 would saddle Ohio taxpayers with a mandated bureaucratic board caste in stone... not subject to modification or alteration if needed. Constitutions are to establish the character, structure and purpose of an organization or government entity. A constitution's purpose is then to be "fleshed out" by laws. I object to the format, not necessarily to the purpose. If whatever Issue 2 will do is good, then let our legislature enact such a law. Then it can prove its merit... or not.
