Two-car crash claims one

YORK TWP. - A two-vehicle crash on Aug. 13 claimed the life of a Defiance resident and injured a Delta woman.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 8:36 a.m. at the intersection of Co. Rd. H and Co. Rd. 10. A 1997 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Karen S. Essex, 46, of Defiance, was traveling northbound on Co. Rd. 10 when she failed to stop at the intersection.

She was struck on the driver's side door by a 2007 Ford Expedition driven by Lorrie M. Crossfield, 42, Delta who was eastbound on Co. Rd. H.

Essex was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fulton County Coroner.

Crossfield was taken to the Fulton County Health Center by Delta rescue with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
