Delta cruises to district title
OTTAWA - The Delta boys cross country team won their fifth straight district title at the Division III meet at Ottawa Park on Saturday.
The Panthers placed five runners in the top nine to run away with the team title in the second district at Ottawa. They had 27 points to second place Coldwater's 86.
Colin Fisher led the way, wining the individual title. Elliott Oberneder was second, K.J. Abair seventh, Zech Hites eighth and Maxx Lackie ninth.
Evergreen was 12th.
In the first district at Ottawa, Archbold was third and Fayette fourth to also advance to the regional tournament. Pettisville was ninth, as Lincoln Frey was fifth to advance as an individual.
Adrian Ramirez led Archbodl with a 15th place finish. Zeb Frank was 20th, Alex Hurst was 26th, Seth Yoder 27th and Bryce Tinsman 28th.
Darrell Randall paced Fayette with a third place finish overall. Trevor Cox was 14th, Dalton Goeltzenleuchter was 21st, Tim Stoltzfus was 38th and Hunter Colegrove 41st.
In Division III girls at Ottawa, Pettisville and Delta both advanced. Pettisville was runner up to Liberty Center in one of the districts, being beat out 34-83.
Tanner Hostetler won the individual crown to lead the Blackbirds. Lexie King was 15th, Brady Avina 18th, Samantha Shinhearl 28th and Jackie Morrill 31st.
Fayette finished sixth as a team with Erica Goeltezenleuchter advancing with a fifth place finish. Swanton was 10th.
Delta had two girls place in the top three in the other district at Ottawa to place second. Ottoville won with 34, while the Panthers had 55.
Kirsten Fruchey was second, Jessica Kern third, Amber Gombash 12th, Carly Seeman 22nd and Erica Robinson 24th.
Evergreen was 9th.
