Don't listen to commercials; people need to educate themselves before casting ballot

On October 21, B.A. Vokoun wrote that this election is about us and we need to get involved and work for the issues. I could not agree more. The other thoughts in this letter are where we disagree.

He talks about trickle up and trickle down economics. Business owners and employees are the backbone of any successful business. Both are important components.

My parents owned a business in Metamora, for over 25 years. They had key employees that helped to make this business successful. They deserve the recognition for this. But at the end of the day the employee goes home and the business owner still has to worry about keeping the doors open.

Mom and dad had to borrow tens of thousands of dollars to keep the business going. So to this end I would submit to you that socialism and sharing the wealth will destroy this country. Higher taxes for the small business owners only leaves them with less money to reinvest, pay for health insurance or to keep an employee on the payroll. It is a fact that the more government interferes and gets into the pocket of business that prices go up for the consumer and people loose their jobs.

This country was founded on hard working people making it for themselves not government doing for the people.

All people should really educate themselves on the facts. Do not listen to commercials. Look at the voting records. If you do not you will get the change you asked for and the rest of us will have to suffer.
