Pettisville stays in BBC title chase
PETTISVILLE - The first time Pettisville faced off against Fayette, the Bird dominated in the first game and then the Eagles kept things close in the final two games. The second meeting was a bit different as the Birds coasted to a 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 win in BBC action.
The win keeps Pettisville (12-6, 7-1 BBC) in the running for at least a share of the league crown.
The Birds moved out to a 7-5 lead in the first game before doubling up Fayette 18-9. Stephanie Yoder helped seal the win with a big kill at the net.
In the second game, Yoder and Katie Weber got a block that set up a 9-2 run and an 18-5 lead. Haley Nofziger's kill gave her team a 21-7 margin when Fayette's Katie Borer answered with a kill of her own sparking a 5-1 Fayette run, but the lead was too great and the Blackbirds won game two 25-14.
Chelsea Schmucker got her team off to a great start in the third game with two kills and two aces on way to a 14-1 Pettisville lead. Borer ended the run with a kill for the Eagles and got three more in the game before the Birds were able to win on a Schmucker kill.
