Off the Cuff by Nancy Schwarzwalder Restaurant is tops in her book, too

Recently while eating lunch at my favorite family restaurant, Quick and Delicious, I saw a very nice-looking gentleman picking up the mustard and catsup bottles from one of the tables where a large group of people had been eating. I thought "what a thoughtful person to take those two items and hand them to a waitress."

As I continued to eat my lunch, and being curious, it finally dawned on me that there were two other gentlemen clearing tables. The three men all had tags hanging on their shirts, but I couldn't read them.

But I thought, "Well, maybe my favorite place to eat is being checked by whomever it is that checks out clean eating places." And I'm always in favor of my eating places being checked for cleanliness, so there again I thought I had my answer to the three, I must say, very handsome gentlemen.

As I got ready to leave the restaurant, I went over to Fred and Shirley Owens and told them I thought it was really nice that they had supplied me with three good-looking me to admire while I enjoyed my lunch. Well, the three men, who were sitting with Shirley and Fred, started to laugh.

Before I could ask any questions, Paul Morton from the News-Tribune appeared with a camera. And it was then I became aware of the fact the gentlemen working at cleaning up tables were representatives from Sam's Club. Their purpose was to help celebrate Q&D's special recognition as special local business member of the year.

I, too, would like to recognize the Quick and Delicious restaurant as local business member of the year. Their business is serving good, regular meals as close to home cooking as a restaurant can get. And it is always served with a smile, and more often than not a quick hug.

If you have a birthday and are there for a meal, you can expect to be serenaded by Fred, his daughters, and another employee with a special rendition of "Happy Birthday."

My recommendation if you want a meal in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere where you might run into other Oberlin residents and friends, go to Quick and Delicious for a good meal. You'll probably meet a lot of folks you might know. It's a comfortable, quiet place to relax and enjoy your favorite lunch or dinner.
