* MACULAR DEGENERATION SUPPORT GROUP will meet on Thursday, June 12 at 4 p.m. in the Green Room at Kendal for the webcast "Preventing Type II Diabetes."

* SATURDAYS AT THE SCHOOLHOUSE A new family-friendly, free program at the Oberlin Heritage Center's Little Red Schoolhouse debuts Saturday, June 14, with drop-in hours from noon to 2 p.m., for children of all ages accompanied by an adult. Visitors can explore the building, take part in historic school lessons, and play games together inside and out. The Schoolhouse program continues each Saturday afternoon through Aug. 16. * OBERLIN AARP #395 meets on today, Tuesday, June 10 at the New Russia Township Hall on Butternut Ridge Road. Social hour begins at 11 a.m. following by a potluck luncheon at noon. Allen Campbell, of Campbell's Antiques of Oberlin, will present the program. He will discuss what to look for in antiques and answer questions about antique pieces.

* FOOD BULLETIN The food pantry at Oberlin Community Services, 285 S. Professor St., is in need of donations of dry powdered milk, toilet paper, dry box meals, canned salmon and canned tuna. Donations can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to noon. Call 774-6579 for assistance.

* PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP Historical Society will meet Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at the Pittsfield Town Hall. Following the meeting Bill and Bonnie Cutcher will present a Power Point program showing houses from years ago and the present time of the Brownhelm area. Organizers are hoping with this program to show the Pittsfield residents how such a program can be undertaken with the Pittsfield area. For more information, contact Ralph Hayes at 647-2203.

* GEORGE JONES FARM courses include the following: Build a Bent Willow Trellis, Saturday, June 14, 1-4 p.m.; Integrated Pest Management, Saturday, June 28, 3-5 p.m.; Composting/Vermi-composting, Sunday, June 22, 1-3 p.m. There is a $15 fee for all workshops with materials extra for some. * SOIL DOES NOT COME IN A PLASTIC BAG: The Politics of Your Front Yard," will be presented by Maurice Small, The Action Hero with City Fresh, at the Oberlin Public Library on Thursday, June 19, 6-7:30 p.m. He will discuss everything you need to know about home gardening, and then some.

* FREE TOURS In celebration of Juneteenth, the Oberlin Heritage Center will waive the usual admission fee and offer free guided tours of the James Monroe House, the Little Red Schoolhouse, and the Jewett House at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The tour lasts about 75 minutes, and accommodates a limited number of people, filled on a first-come, first-served basis. * PARK STREET SEVENTH-DAY Adventist Church, 99 S. Park St. Mid-week prayer service is Wednesday at 7 p.m. Sabbath School begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday followed by divine worship at 11 a.m. where Rashad Burden will be the guest speaker. The Food Pantry will be open on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

* MONTHLY FOOD DISTRIBUTION through Oberlin Community Services, 285 S. Professor St., for residents of Oberlin, Wellington and Kipton, and New Russia, Carlisle, Wellington, Brighton, Penfield, Camden, Huntington, Rochester and Pittsfield townships, will be Saturday, June 14, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recipients must provide identification, address verification and proof of low income.

* $20 FOR 20 YEARS The Oberlin Schools Endowment Fund is celebrating 20 years and is hosting a 20 for $20 fundraising campaign. Residents can mail a $20 tax-deductible contribution to Oberlin Schools Endowment Fund, 153 N. Main St., Oberlin, 44074.

* TAPPAN SQUARE CONCERT SERIES The summer concert series, sponsored by the Oberlin Chamber of Commerce, begins Friday, June 13, at 7 p.m. with a performance by ET King, performing rhythm and blues. Free to all, bring lawn chairs and blankets to Clark Bandstand.

* WEAPONS OF THE SPIRIT, a documentary that chronicles the work of the citizens of Le Chambon, France, in rescuing Jews and others during World War II will be shown at Peace Community Church in two parts on Sunday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. on both dates.

* FORECLOSURE INTERVENTION clinic will be held on Saturday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Oberlin Public Library. Foreclosure counselors will cover the default and foreclosure timeline, the foreclosure process, the counseling process, the options available to borrowers, resources and rescue loan monies. They will also discuss borrowers' situations on a one-to-one basis. This is sponsored by the Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Cleveland and the Housing Service Program of Lorain County. It is free and open to the public.
