Bruce Beard
Nord
Bruce Beard Nord, 49, of Anderson, S.C., died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.
Born Nov. 19, 1958 in Lakewood, Ohio, he was the husband of Angela Bennett Nord, and the son of Cindy Whitehead Nord and the late Evan W. Nord.
Mr. Nord attended Lorain County Community College and was the retired president of Nord Communication in Greenville, SC. In keeping with the Nord family philanthropic tradition, his most current passion was his work at the Montessori School in Anderson.
Surviving are his wife, Angel; two daughters, Katelyn and Allie; two sons, Joshua and Justin; two grandchildren, Rhyder and Rhianna; his mother, Cindy; two sisters, Katie and Allison; and two brothers, Eric and Ethan.
A celebration of Mr. Nord's life will be held at the Montessori School on Sam McGee Road in Anderson, S.C., at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montessori School of Anderson, 280 Sam McGee Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621.

Meldrum Ramsay
Jessie Florence Meldrum Ramsay, 98, of Oberlin, formerly of Lorain, died Monday, April 28, 2008 in Kendal at Oberlin.
She was born Oct. 26, 1909 in Elyria. Miss Ramsay moved from Elyria to Lorain in 1915.
She was a 1927 graduate of Lorain High School and graduated from Elyria Business College in 1928. During World War II, Miss Ramsay went Washington D.C. where she worked as a secretary for 14 months. She was a secretary for the Lorain Public Library, Wittier School and Lorain City School Board.
For 30 years, Miss Ramsay was employed as a secretary for Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Lorain, for more than 88 years. She was a former member of Day Chapter, No. 47, of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lorain.
Miss Ramsay volunteered for the former St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the hospital guild, Lorain Sorosis and AARP, Chapter 399, and was a charter member of the YWCA.
Miss Ramsay was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Ann Ramsay in 1918 and Hilda Jean Meldrum Ramsay in 2002, and her parents, John Mearns Ramsay in 1948 and Jessie Daker (nee: Meldrum) Ramsay in 1970. Funeral services were Monday, May 5, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church, 1897 East 30th Street, Lorain, with the Rev. Wayne DeMarco, pastor, officiating. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Black River Historical Society, 309 West Fifth Street, Lorain, 44052. Arrangements were handled by the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Avenue, Lorain.
