Police blotter, Oct. 28

12:05 p.m., Oct. 5: An officer responded to an accident at Vine and South Main streets involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.

1:34 p.m., Oct. 5: An officer took a report of a vehicle damaged while parked in the 500 block of West College Street.

3:39 p.m., Oct. 5: An officer responded to an accident in the 600 block of East College Street involving Dawn Norris, who had backed into a vehicle belonging to her niece, Bonnie Booth.

3:37 p.m., Oct. 7: An officer responded to Wal-Mart for an altercation between customers. Nothing physical was reported.

4:47 p.m., Oct. 7: An officer responded to the Oberlin Public Library for a report of an adult male attempting to get a juvenile female to fight with his daughter. On arrival the officer saw Lucious Williams, identified as the subject male, confronting another male, the father of the juvenile, acting in a provocative manner. The officer detected the strong smell of alcohol on Williams's breath, so he was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication. He was booked and released on $250 personal recognizance bond.

5:10 p.m., Oct. 7: An officer met with an officer from the Sheffield Village police department to take custody of Terrance Riddle of Cleveland. He had been arrested on a bench warrant through Oberlin Municipal Court for contempt. He was transported to the Lorain County jail.

6:30 p.m., Oct. 7: An officer responded to the Lorain County jail to serve Christopher Hodge with a bench warrant through Oberlin Municipal Court for contempt. He was held in the county jail on $5,000 bond.

1:43 p.m., Oct. 8: The Oberlin Heritage Center reported someone threw a raw walnut through a window pane at the Little Red Schoolhouse.

4:30 p.m., Oct. 9: An officer took a report of theft. The item, a Zippo lighter mechanism, was later returned.

4:52 p.m., Oct. 9: An officer took a report of unauthorized charges against a bank account.

2:26 a.m., Oct. 10: Officers responded to 82 S. Park St. for a complaint of unauthorized use of an automobile. The vehicle was located and the subject, James Miller, was found in the apartment of the vehicle owner, who was not present. Miller was charged with burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was transported to the Lorain County jail in lieu of $6,000 bond.

8:25 a.m., Oct. 10: A bus driver, Kathy Moore, reported she had clipped someone's sideview mirror. The vehicle's owner was notified.

11:14 a.m., Oct. 10: An officer responded to an accident on Elm Street involving Joseph Waltz, who struck a parked car owned by Kieta Yasher.

2:33 p.m., Oct. 10: An insurance agent called to report a client in his office was involved in a minor accident at Kendal at Oberlin on Oct. 3.

12:49 a.m., Oct. 11: Officers responding to East Lorain Street for a noise complaint observed a large group of people on the sidewalk with open containers of alcohol. The group started running and the officers ordered them to stop. Two males continued running. One, who slowed and came to a stop, was given a verbal warning. The officers apprehended the other male, identified as Aaron Botwick of Mississippi, who was charged with obstructing official business and underage consumption of alcohol.

2:20 a.m., Oct. 11: An officer observed a male attempting to hide a construction barricade behind him. When the officer approached, the man started running with the barricade. He dropped the barricade when ordered to stop. The officer caught the subject, Bryce Mighell of Washington state, and charged him with theft and obstructing official business.

11:18 a.m., Oct. 13: An officer took a report of theft of a backpack containing a laptop computer, cell phone, and wallet from Harkness Hall.

1:49 p.m., Oct. 13: An officer responded to Wal-Mart for a minor accident involving Robert Guilker and a female in a truck registered to Gary Rising. Guilker said the female struck his car with the truck door and left on Route 20.

4:10 p.m., Oct. 13: An officer responded to Route 20 for a report of property damage. The complainant said a large truck tire hit his camper, scuffing and denting it. He said people often use his driveway as a turnaround, and someone might have lost the tire while turning around. He wanted the police report in case it was intentional.

9:05 a.m., Oct. 14: An officer responded to the Oberlin Offstreet Parking lot for a minor accident involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.

4:17 p.m., Oct. 14: An officer responded to an accident at South Pleasant and East Lorain streets. Matthew B. Noble of Oberlin reported he was injured when another vehicle hit him from behind.

1:50 p.m., Oct. 15: An officer took a report of theft from a South Main Street business.

8:05 a.m., Oct. 16: The police department received notification from the National Crime Information Center of the location of an item reported stolen in June, 1999, and entered into the NCIC database.

4 p.m., Oct. 16: An officer responded to the lobby of the Oberlin Municipal Court to arrest Christopher Wilfong of New London on a felony warrant through the Lorain County sheriff's office for contempt of court. He was released to a Lorain County sheriff's deputy.

7:50 p.m., Oct. 18: Officers responded to the 200 block of East Lorain Street for an assault complaint.

9:47 p.m., Oct. 18: Officers responded to Presti's restaurant to assist the Lorain County sheriff's office with an unruly patron. Jason Cowie was arrested by sheriff's deputies and transported to the Lorain County jail. His vehicle was towed at the request of restaurant staff.

4:53 p.m., Oct. 19: An officer responded to a minor accident on West College Street in front of Ben Franklin.

11:05 p.m., Oct. 20: An officer responded to an East Lorain Street business for a report of breaking and entering. The manager advised the subject was not in the building.
