1:37 p.m., July 22: Officers responded to the Oberlin Public Library for a 911 call reporting 15 juveniles fighting in front of the building. Upon arrival the juveniles had dispersed, but the two individuals involved were located on the south side of the building. The juveniles were identified and released to relatives. The matter was forwarded to the juvenile officer.

5:17 p.m., July 22: A juvenile and his mother filed an assault complaint. The matter is under investigation.

1:40 p.m., July 23: An officer took a report of jewelry theft from a residence. A diamond ring, valued at $10,000 was missing. The matter is under investigation.

4:26 p.m., July 23: An officer took a report of misuse of a debit card.

9:54 p.m., July 23: An officer responded to the 100 block of South Professor Street for a vandalism complaint.

4:54 p.m., July 24: An officer initiated a traffic stop on Rt. 58. While inventorying the vehicle prior to towing, the officer found marijuana. Keith Howells, 49, of Norwalk, was cited for failure to reinstate, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

9:27 p.m., July 24: Subjects came to the police station to report harassment by an ex-family member. The matter was referred to the city prosecutor.

10:03 p.m., July 24: An officer on patrol stationed at Deichler's Tires observed a blue flatbed truck pull into the parking lot. After several minutes two subjects exited the vehicle. The officer approached them on foot and announced himself, surprising the two subjects. Rodney Cannon was cited for possession of marijuana.

11:52 p.m., July 25: Officers responded to Lincoln Street for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival the subjects were arguing with each other. The matter was referred to the city prosecutor for charges.

12:40 a.m., July 26: An officer responded to the 500 block of West College Street for a report of criminal damage to a vehicle. The matter was referred to the city prosecutor.

8:48 p.m., July 26: Officers responded to Pleasant Street Park for a report of juveniles circled and yelling. Upon arrival the group scattered and officers found a male subject had been assaulted. Upon investigation, two juveniles were determined to be the aggressors. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

10:50 a.m., July 27: An officer located Raymond Butler, 51, of Oberlin, in the 300 block of West Lorain Street and arrested him on a warrant through the Elyria police department. He was transported to Elyria and turned over to Elyria police.

12:10 p.m., July 27: An officer took a report of misuse of a credit card.

4:05 p.m., July 27: Officers responded to CVS Pharmacy for a juvenile shoplifter they were trying to detain but was causing problems. The subject fled before the officers arrived, but was later located. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

6:56 p.m., July 27: An officer took a complaint of possible identity theft.

9:04 p.m., July 27: Officers responded to Beethoven's Bagels for a complaint of subjects on the roof. Five juveniles were referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

9:50 a.m., July 28: An officer took a report of theft of a $1,000 bike. Later that same day, the roommate of the original complainant reported his bike stolen. After investigation, Greg Styer, 19, of Oberlin, was charged with receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Lorain County jail in lieu of $2,500 bond.

9:58 p.m., July 28: A caller reported a black truck driving erratically with no tail lights. An officer initiated a traffic stop at Allen Community Hospital. Dewey Tomblin was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, blood alcohol content over legal limits, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

2:30 a.m., July 30: An officer on patrol observed the vehicle in front of him make a prohibited right turn on red from West College Street to South Main Street. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found the 16-year-old driver did not have a driver's license. The vehicle was reported stolen, and the owner wished to pursue charges. Other juveniles were in the vehicle, along with tobacco and marijuana. The juveniles were released to their parents. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

3:26 a.m., July 30: Officers responded to Clark Court for a possible suicidal male. The subject was transported to Allen Community Hospital by ambulance.

2:05 p.m., July 31: An officer responded to the Murray Ridge Center for possible abuse of a client. After investigation it was determined no crimes were committed.

6:12 p.m., July 31: The Wal-Mart pharmacist reported a female purchasing narcotics with an altered prescription.

7:49 p.m., July 31: An officer took a report of misuse of a credit card.

9:05 p.m., July 31: Officers at Parsons Road Reservoir checking for park closing violations found two vehicles parked in the lot. One officer located the owners fishing in the reservoir while K-9 officer Axel and the other officer walked around the vehicles. The first officer advised the subjects the park was closed and escorted them back to the vehicles. Meanwhile, K-9 officer Axel alerted to the driver's door of one of the vehicles. Anthony Williams, 35, of Mansfield, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of crack cocaine. He was transported to the Lorain County jail in lieu of $2,600 cash bond.

2:24 a.m., Aug. 1: Officers responded to the 200 block of East College Street for a protection order violation complaint. At 8:19 p.m., Ramone Christian, 33, of Oberlin, was observed sitting on the front porch of a South Pleasant Street residence. He was arrested for violation of a protection order and released on $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

8:04 p.m., Aug. 1: An officer responded to the 100 block of North Park Street for damage to a vehicle.

8:28 a.m., Aug. 3: An officer responded to the 400 block of East College Street for a complaint of criminal damage to a vehicle.

4:33 p.m., Aug. 4: An officer took a complaint of telephone harassment.

12:22 p.m., Aug. 6: An officer took a complaint of criminal damage to a vehicle.

4:34 p.m., Aug. 6: An officer took a missing juvenile complaint. The juvenile was later located. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

3:05 a.m., Aug. 7: An officer took a theft complaint. The complainant said she left her purse in a shopping cart and has since noticed unauthorized use of her debit card.

8:36 p.m., Aug. 10: An officer observed a vehicle weaving left of center on North Pleasant Street and initiated a traffic stop in the employee parking lot at Kendal at Oberlin. Vertis Clements, 56, of Huron, was cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, blood alcohol test refusal, weaving, and obstructing official business.

5:06 p.m., Aug. 11: An officer traveling through Clark Court Apartments observed Korre Gains and arrested him on a warrant through the Wakeman police department. He was transported to Green Circle Growers where custody was transferred to Wakeman police.

7:32 p.m., Aug. 11: An officer responded to a threat made by a son to his father. The father did not wish to pursue charges.

9:36 p.m., Aug. 13: A female advised her husband attacked her. At 11:30 p.m., officers responded to Elyria, where they arrested Kevin O'Keefe, 44, for felony domestic violence. He was transported to the Lorain County jail without bond.

9:45 p.m., Aug. 13: A parent called to report siblings fighting. Officers responded and placed a 17-year-old male into custody. They transported him to the Lorain County Detention Home and referred the matter to the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

10:24 p.m., Aug. 14: Officers responded to the 100 block of Groveland Street for a report of burglary. The complainant said his upstairs bedroom had been entered.

4:10 p.m., Aug. 15: An officer took a report of harassing phone calls. The matter was referred to the city prosecutor.

11:55 a.m., Aug. 16: The police department received a call from Lorain County 911 reporting a man had called 911 and asked for assistance in the 200 block of Sumner Street and hung up. A male then called 911 from the 200 block of Sumner Street saying he had been hit by a wrench. Officers responded and arrested Michael McElya, 50, of Oberlin, on a warrant and complaint for assault. He was transported to the Lorain County jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.

8:50 p.m., Aug. 16: An officer responded to the New Union Center for the Arts for a complaint of receiving stolen property. The complainant reported seeing a juvenile riding a bike matching the description of a bike stolen from the complainant's residence on Parsons Road. The juvenile's mother was notified, and the juvenile was transported home. While searching the juvenile prior to transporting him, the officer found two glass smoking pipes with residue and three burnt cigarette butts. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

1:58 p.m., Aug. 18: An officer responded to the Hamilton Street recreation complex for a report of vandalism to the concession stand.

9:45 p.m., Aug. 18: An officer sitting stationary at Main and College streets observed a red Pontiac traveling eastbound on West College Street at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on South Main Street near McDonald's and found a juvenile operating the vehicle. The officer also observed marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The officer contacted the juvenile's parents and turned the juvenile over to them. The matter was referred to the juvenile officer and the Lorain County Juvenile Court.

Aug. 19: An officer arrested Edyth Stiles, 19, of Oberlin, on assault charges stemming from an Aug. 10 incident.

12:37 a.m., Aug. 20: An officer observed a vehicle traveling eastbound on East Lorain Street in excess of the posted speed limit, weaving and going left of center. A traffic stop was initiated near Hillcrest Drive. Chaz Gutierrez was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and blood alcohol content over legal limits. He was released on personal recognizance.

9:11 a.m., Aug. 20: An officer responded to the Oberlin Heritage Center for a vandalism complaint. Executive director Pat Murphy said a window at the Jewett House barn had also been broken a few days prior.

8:36 p.m., Aug. 20: Officers responded to Maple Street for a call reporting a family problem. The officers assisted the family.

8:12 a.m., Aug. 21: Officers responded to the 200 block of East College Street and arrested Ramone Christian for violation of a protection order. He was transported to the Oberlin police department for arraignment in Oberlin Municipal Court.
