School Scene, Oct. 20

by MICHELE ANDREWS

School volunteer

Congratulations to the OHS boys and girls varsity soccer teams. The girls took first place in the Stripes Division of the Patriot Athletic Conference ending the season with a 9-5-2 record. Taking second place the varsity boys ended the season 10-4-2. Both teams have tournament play this week.

Eastwood: As the weather continues to get colder please make sure your student is properly dressed. Students will go outside for recess as long as the weather permits so coats, hats and gloves are needed.

Prospect: Prospect is holding a book fair all this week. The book fair is open to the public during school hours and is a great way to help the school and get some holiday shopping done early.

Open House is Thursday, Oct. 22. 6:30-8 p.m. If you haven't already, this is a chance to meet the new principal and your student's teachers. The book fair will be open this evening as well.

Langston: Interim reports have been sent home and the end of the first marking period is rapidly approaching. This is the time to address any issues your student is currently having. If you were unable to make the conferences please call the school office and schedule an appointment with your student's teacher

Sporting Life: LMS Football is home today vs. Clearview with kickoff at 4:30 p.m. at OHS. Thursday, Oct. 22 is the LMS girls basketball parent meeting at 7 p.m. If your daughter plans to play please make sure they have a current physical and plan to attend this meeting.

OHS: Parent/teacher conferences are not until the beginning of next month. If your student has issues, don't wait; you can always call the office and schedule a meeting with their teachers.

Because of the NEOEA Day this past Friday the principal's breakfast has been moved to Friday, Oct. 23, 8-9 a.m. Principal Baylis makes himself available at this time in a casual setting to answer questions or concerns.

Sporting Life: The boys varsity soccer, girls varsity soccer and girls varsity volleyball are all in tournament play this week. Phoenix varsity football is away this week at Lutheran West. Lutheran West's JV team comes to Oberlin Saturday, Oct. 24 with kick-off at 10 a.m.
