Second shooting suspect arrested
A second suspect has been indicted and arrested folowing an Oct. 11 shooting incident on North Main Street.
Oberlin police detective Victor Ortiz said Morris Alexander, 29, of Cleveland was arrested on Oct. 22 after his investigation showed Alexander was the unidentified man who accompanied Andrew Davison to the residence in the 300 block of North Main Street. As the result of a fight that ensued, Long was shot in the abdomen, and Davison was shot in the right leg.
Rodney Cannon sustained a serious injury to his left eye. He was initially treated at Allen Community Hospital, and was later transported to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was released after further treatment.
Davison, 27, of Cleveland, was arrested Oct. 11 at EMH Regional Medical center, where he went for treatment for his gunshot wound. He was initially charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated robbery.
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the Lorain County grand jury returned an indictment for two counts each of aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and having weapons under disability, and one count each of aggravated burglary, possession of drugs, and trafficking in drugs. All of the charges are felonies.
During the course of the investigation, Ortiz identified Alexander as the second suspect who accompanied Davison to the house. The grand jury indicted Alexander on one count each of aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and felonious assault.
Ortiz traveled to Cleveland with members of the U.S. Marshal's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force on Thursday, Oct. 22, and negotiated Alexander's surrender. He was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Lorain County jail, where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Davison is also being held at the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bond.
