The Ottawa County Genealogical Society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m., at the Fountain Inn, 225 Maple Ave., Lakeside. Please enter by the Maple Ave. entrance. We will then go to the Lakeside Heritage Society Archives where Janet Stephenson will show their genealogical materials. There will also be a brief tour of the Heritage Hall. Back at the Fountain Inn there will be birthday cake and coffee in celebration of our 40th anniversary. Everyone is welcome.

The Ottawa County Fourth Thursday Republican Lunch Bunch will be Thursday, Oct. 22, at noon, at the Port Clinton Elks Club, 231 Buckeye Blvd., Port Clinton. Jon Husted, candidate for Ohio Secretary of State in 2010, will be the featured speaker. Husted, considered to be the leadership that makes the difference, is committed to fighting for less government, less spending and lower taxes. Jon Husted first served in the legislature in 2000, and in 2007 was elected State Senator of the Sixth District. Any one is welcome to attend the luncheon, area residents and visitors. No reservations are necessary for the buffet lunch.
