On Friday, May 29, Sheriff Bratton experienced some health issues. He went to St. Charles Emergency Room where a preliminary evaluation was conducted. Requiring more extensive evaluation, he was then transported to St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center. There it was determined that he would require surgery which was scheduled for Monday, June 1.

Following surgery, Sheriff Bratton will remain at St. Vincent's for approximately one week, following which he will require rehabilitation for a few weeks.
