Area sheriff's offices
conduct warrant sweep
On Wednesday, April 29, sheriff's offices representing Wood, Sandusky, and Ottawa counties, with the assistance of the Toledo Police gang squad, conducted a warrant sweep of those specific jurisdictional areas. Starting at 7:30 p.m. and going until 10 p.m. a large amount warrants were served. Some of these were found to be not valid and/or it was found that individuals had moved on.
During this warrant sweep there were five individuals that were arrested and detained on outstanding warrants. Out of the three county sheriff's offices and the Toledo Police Department personnel were able to not only make arrests but also to clear up the status's of approximately 55 warrants. The personnel utilized for this operation was on regular time or training time.
The sheriffs feel a sweep needs to be conducted once a month for clearing out warrants that are in the files of the three county sheriff's offices. The goal here is to get people to turn themselves in and then make arrangements with the court for their appropriate court case to be completed.
At this time, there will be another evaluation for the month of May regarding the warrant sweep. The times of these sweeps may be morning, afternoon, or late at night. If you have any questions regarding these sweeps you may contact Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn at 419-354-9008, Sheriff Kyle Overmyer at 419-332-2613, or Sheriff Bob Bratton at 419-734-6877.
The sheriff's offices would like to express a special thank you to the Toledo Police Department and their gang unit for the assistance of the members of that outstanding unit.
