2008 volleyball season outlook
We were a young team last year. We graduated three players from last year's squad -- Hannah Bishoff, Heather Gwin and Annie Tuttamore. We played hard, and were competitive against some of the top teams in the league especially at home. It will be difficult to replace those seniors but many of this seasons juniors gained valuable experience in varsity matches last season.
We have four returning letter winners from last year's team -- Heather Bahnsen, Natalie Holmes, Cortney Cook and Brittany Isom. We also have a couple of JV players that received valuable varsity time but not enough to earn their letter in Samantha Molnar and Caitlynn Biro.
I have had to change positions for a couple girls but I believe it will allow us to be more competitive than we have been in the past. Again, our focus will be ball control and to cut down on our mistakes that have cost us from winning the close games, but the girls have been working hard and their court awareness seems to be better than the last two seasons. We are also hoping to incorporate a variety of defensive schemes to better match up against our opponents.
We are a young team again, no seniors on the team, but the junior class has been the largest class each year I have been here, now it is their time to shine on the court. I believe we have the chance to surprise some teams that may underestimate us from years past. The toughest team in the TAAC this season looks to be Cardinal Stritch, they have lost some valuable experience at a few different positions, but return players with a lot of game experience.
