Danbury sixth graders share experiences

Hi my name is Kylah Mackall. I am 11-years-old and I go to Danbury School. My experience going to the Mohican school is that I got to play. The tribe class I found most fun was Raptors with Mr. Snyder in the dinning room. It was my favorite because he had a red tailed hawk, a baby owl, and a mommy owl. They were there because they all had something wrong with them. The red tailed hawk had brain damage, the baby owl was run over by a car, and the mommy owl was blind in one eye.

When we ate it was cool because there was a food hopper that went into the kitchen to get the food. The hopper brought the food to the table, and we all passed the food to the right. Once everyone had their food, we could pass it anyway we wanted. After we ate, there was also a clean up hopper, that is when you take all of the dirty dishes to the kitchen.

If I could go back to Mohican schools again, I would do all of the classes, and help all of the teachers because I would know what to do. I hope you will have fun when you go there. Try the hardest class ever, Compass Challenge, it will definitely challenge you. I hope you have lots of fun at Mohican School, because I know I did.

Hello my name is Megan Stephens. I go to Danbury Middle School. Last week my sixth grade class went to Mohican School of the Outdoors. And whoever asked for the weather, "Thank you so much."

On Thursday, Oct. 23, there was an option time before rest at 3:34-4:45. There was a lot to choose from but, I chose the hike to Hemlock Falls. It was the most beautiful thing you would ever see. Not much water was running but, I swear it was worth it.

My community kaper (job) was Colonel Crawford. It was not my thing, because it was classroom with the mice and snakes. A few of my friends, Nicole and Lauren, fed the mice but, I just sat on the bench and said, "No thanks." I also had to clean the discovery table, which was the table that had a deer's leg, skunk, fox, and rabbit fur, skulls of different animals and lots more. I would have rather done animal care but, it is all over now.

The thing I miss most are the friends I made from St. Peters and St. Mary's, Gil, Cirra, Nick, Kelly, Ben, Trevor, Evan and many more. The staff is another thing. The staff there at Mohican are the best. If you ever get a chance to go, please do.

That was my experience at Mohican School of the Outdoors.

Hi my name is Samantha Simkus at Danbury Middle School. I am 11-years-old and in the sixth grade. My class went to Mohican School in the Out-of-Doors. My class and I had so much fun at Mohican.

We all learned some new things about the out doors. My favorite class that we did was shooting an arrow. I had so much fun. During option time I went to do animal care. It was so fun holding the bunnies. The funniest thing that happened at Mohican was when we got there we met up with our leader. He was telling a lot of jokes. It was fun.

The kaper (means job) was cleaning the game room because if kids came in and ran all around the room they could fall and get hurt, so its important to do your job. Also, the advantages of eating family style rather than cafeteria style are to get to know the people around you a lot better.

One of the interesting experiences is having to live together with others and to get to know each other better and telling jokes and more.

If I can go back to Mohican then I would get to know a lot more of the teachers just to understand them a little. And the thing I miss about Mohican is seeing and meeting new people. I miss Mohican. I wish I can go back. I want to see and learn about the out side world.

Hi I am Michael Stys form Danbury School. And I went to Mohican Outdoors School.

The classes I found most interesting were compass challenge and nocturnal awareness. I liked compass challenge because you had to think how many steps to take. And the cards were hidden. I liked nocturnal awareness because it was outside and dark.

And the kaper or job was I had to feed mice that were fed to the snake. I had to clean the store and feed turtles too.

And the thing I will miss most is the trip to Hemlock Falls. It was a huge rock, it looked like honey comb. And that's what I did.

Danbury Middle School, Saint Peter School, Sandusky Central Catholic School went to Mohican School in the out-of-doors. My name is Teresa Hensley, and I go to Danbury Middle School, and I am 12-years-old.

On the first day I had Compass Challenge. It wasn't the funniest class ever, because we didn't find any clues. But after that we got to go to the game room, and play games and shop at the store.

The thing I liked most about Mohican School is eating with new people and learned many new things and that is my feelings about Mohican School.
