Running on two Running on Two at the Farm Science Review

By Jay Scott

A contest at the Farm Science Review for FFA members in attendance will have Grandpa's John Deere B in the spotlight.

The old B will again this year be at the RFD News site at the Review, and a few lucky students will get the chance to spin the flywheel and possibly win a T-shirt. Here's how it will work:

1. The contest will be conducted each day of the Farm Science Review at the following times -- 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

2. FFA members present at the RFD News display at those times will be eligible to participate.

3. Each FFA member present at those times will be given a numbered ticket, and one of the numbers will be drawn at random.

4. The FFA member holding the winning number will be given two spins of the old B's flywheel. If the tractor starts, the successful FFA member will win a T-shirt courtesy of the RFD News.

The coveted T-shirt will say "I Ran On Two at the Farm Science Review!" (I know. The brilliant vocabulary of the RFD News team is truly amazing.)

The goal of this contest is to develop a new generation of RFD News readers, either in print or on-line. We know we have a dedicated readership already. Our advertisers know this and, as a result, they continue to support the RFD News. We owe it to our advertisers and our readers, however, to keep coming up with new ways to generate interest in the newspaper. Growing, improving, and working hard are how we will continue to produce what we consider to be the best agricultural newspaper in Ohio.

If FFA members are the future of American agriculture, then they're most certainly the future of the RFD News.

So, spread the word. Tell the FFA members in your family to look for the RFD News when they visit the 2009 Farm Science Review. One of them could end up "running on two."
