Spring Judging Season Gets Under Way
On March 1, 11 members of the Mohawk FFA traveled to the Marysville Spring Invitational at Marysville High School. Students competed in three contest areas that day.
The Poultry team of Greg Reinhart, Ira Kuenzli, Susan Daniel, LeAnna Aurand, and James Koehler placed 10th overall with Greg earning a sixth place finish. Members of this team had to identify and grade chickens based on USDA standards.
The General Livestock team of Shane Griffin, Tyler Long, Katie Lasky, Kirsten Shellhouse, and Ellen Gilliland placed 48th with Tyler Long earning top honors for our team. These students had to place cattle, sheep and hogs based on market qualities.
Luke Rife represented Mohawk in the horse judging event where he placed 63rd. He had to evaluate horses, identify tack and take a written test.
Congratulations to everyone who participated and good luck at Ashland on March 15 and State on March 29.
