Liberty-Benton graduate FFA member Christine Noyes was presented the American FFA Degree at the 80th National FFA Convention. This degree, the highest degree in the National FFA Organization, was presented to the local FFA member for her outstanding class work, FFA involvement, and Supervised Agricultural Experience program exemplified during her membership in the organization. Over 50,000 FFA members, advisors, parents, and guests attended the National FFA Convention held October 24-27, 2007 in Indianapolis, Ind. The theme of this year's convention was "Blue Jackets -- Bright Futures."
Members attending from Liberty-Benton were Nick Robinson, Tyler Greer, Jared Wittenmyer, Destiny Adams, Kendra Gonso, Alannah Abrams, Maria Kedmenec, Megan Montgomery, Ashley Moore, Ashley Hunker, Brad Noyes, and Christine Noyes. Advisor Mark Badertscher was joined on the trip by parents Nancy Abrams, Karen Noyes, and Tim Noyes.
The Liberty-Benton High School group took educational tours of the National FFA Center, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and museum, as well as Traders Point Creamery organic dairy farm. The members went to a professional bull riders rodeo, Buckeye bash party for Ohio FFA members, and a concert by country music artists Montgomery Gentry.
While at the convention, members attended sessions to hear motivational speakers and see multi-media presentations. Convention guests were treated to performances by the national FFA band, chorus, and talent program. National FFA officers presented awards to deserving members.
Liberty-Benton members were treated to a special breakfast and discussion on agribusiness opportunities by Alfagreen Supreme at the Canterbury Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. Alfagreen Supreme is an alfalfa processor and marketer located in Toledo. When the members were not at sessions or on tours, they browsed the national FFA shopping mall or viewed the booths and spoke with college recruiters and industry representatives at the National FFA Career Show.
