Caregiver Support Educational Series at Swanton Public Library from 6:30-8:15 p.m. It will feature Cheryl Spires (OSU Extension) speaking on family difficulties and conflict resolution. There is no charge for these programs and refreshments will be served. Please call to register at 419-826-2760.

Friday Evenings Plant Monitoring and Dinner, Oak Openings Preserve, Buehner Center Porch, 6 to 9 p.m. We need your help. Pack a picnic dinner and assist Metroparks naturalists in counting rare plants. A new program series for those interested in a hands-on learning experience in the rare Oak Openings region. Saturday, Aug. 30

Veggie Swap at SPL from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Bring any extra garden bounty to the library, pull over to the far side of the lot, and open up your car trunk. Because some of us have garden excess and some of us just wish we did, you can request a donation, give your excess veggies to someone who can use them, or trade for other varieties of veggies. Everyone is welcome to join the fun!

Swancreek Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the township building at 5565 Co. Rd. D. The public is welcome.

Wednesday, Sept. 3

Swancreek Water District Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Swancreek Township Hall, 5565 County Road D. The public is welcome to attend.

Friday, Sept. 5

Swanton Area Railroad and Model Club will meet at 8 p.m. in Swanton Village Hall. All are welcome.

Saturday, Sept. 6

Oak Openings Geocache Poker Run, Oak Openings Preserve, Buehner Center Porch, 12 to 3 p.m. Bring your GPS unit to the park for a day of Geocaching fun and prizes. Participants will search the park for geocaches which hold envelopes with cards. At the end, the team or individual with the best seven card stud poker hand will win a noncash prize, runner up prizes will also be awarded. If you do not have a GPS there will be a limited number of units available to borrow on a first come first serve basis (borrowers must leave a drivers license). Free. Member's Program: Top 10 Metroparks Birding Destinations, Oak Openings Preserve, Oak Openings Lodge, 2 to 4 p.m. Grab your walking shoes, bird guides, and binoculars and get set to discover the best places to see birds in your Metroparks. Monday, Sept. 8

Swanton Township Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the township hall at the corner of Airport Highway and Scott Road. The public is welcome.

Swanton Village Council will meet at the municipal building on Chestnut Street at 7 p.m. The Finance and Water and Sewer Committees will meet prior to the regular meeting. The public is welcome.

Weekly/Monthly Event

Immunization clinics are conducted by the Fulton County Health Department on the third Thursday of the month from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Swanton Village Hall. For more details, call the health department at (419) 337-0915. Immunizations are $5 each, with a $25 family maximum.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Tuesday, beginning at 8 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 200 Dodge St. in Swanton.

The meetings are open to anyone suffering from alcohol addiction, or recovering alcoholics.

Combat Wives/Dependent group meets the second and fourth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Detwiler Building in Wauseon.

Bariatric surgery informational seminars will be held the second Tuesday of every month from 6-8 p.m. Support group sessions will be the first Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held at 3909 Woodley Rd., Suite 200, Toledo. For more information or to register call 419-291-6740.

Fulton County Down Syndrome Support Group, meets the first Monday of every month at the Fulton County Board of DD at 1210 N. Ottokee St., Wauseon, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
