Penta plans open house
The new Penta Career Center, located at 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township, will hold a Community Open House on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to tour the school and get a first-hand look at the professionally-designed career-technical labs, academic classrooms and science labs.
At 522,000 square feet in size, the new Penta is one of the largest career-technical school construction projects in Ohio. The estimated budget for the construction of the new Penta was about $90.6 million.
The new facility was in the planning stages for nearly five years prior to the start of construction in the fall of 2005. It is funded by voters in Penta's 16 member school districts who approved a one-mill permanent improvement levy to construct, equip and maintain the new facility. The new Penta was designed and constructed with flexibility to meet current and future workforce demands of our region. The building was designed by Toledo-based architectural firm TCI/TMP Inc. Rudolph/Libbe of Walbridge, Ohio served as construction manager for the project.
Penta offers more than 30 career-technical programs for high school students. Nearly 1,500 students attend classes at the new facility. Penta serves an additional 2,000 students through various satellite programs within its member school districts. The Adult & Continuing Education Division serves about 3,100 adults each year.
Penta serves the following school districts in northwest Ohio: Swanton, Anthony Wayne, Benton-Carroll-Salem, Bowling Green, Eastwood, Elmwood, Genoa, Lake, Maumee, North Baltimore, Northwood, Otsego, Perrysburg, Rossford, Springfield, and Woodmore.
