Kids learn Letter People

The kindergartners began their journey this week into "The Land of the Letter People." The inflatable letter people help the young students learn and remember the letters of the alphabet as well as their special sound.
Each week the kindergartners learn a new letter person and complete activities to enhance their learning of that letter. Throughout the year the students will continue to work on their "ABC Homework Book," in which they continue to add pictures of things for each new letter they learn.
The very special friend of the Letter People is "Chef Combo Nation," who is the best chef in the entire nation! From time to time the special puppet chef visits the classroom and teaches the students about good foods, healthy choices and yummy snacks. Chef Combo is used to introduce new foods and simple food preparation skills to children. He makes it fun to learn healthy and fun eating habits - and the children love sampling the tasty creations in the classroom!
In other activities, the kindergartners along with upper grade students, have begun working on their Math for Success. At least twice a week, students work on math related activities at their level at home. The program is designed to reinforce the math concepts taught in the classroom and build math skills in students at all levels.
